Living in places where cane toads roam means staying alert every single day. She’s naturally curious, always wanting to sniff and investigate anything that hops — which makes these dangerous creatures even scarier. It only takes a second for a dog to lick or bite one, and the consequences can be deadly.
So now, every time we’re outside, I watch her closely, scanning the yard the same way she does. She trusts me to keep her safe, and I take that seriously. It’s a strange kind of teamwork — her instincts paired with my vigilance.
But even with the risk, we don’t let fear control our lives. We stay cautious, prepared, and connected. Her safety matters more than anything, and I’ll always protect her from what she can’t understand.
